Bedroom Shoes on the Standard Gauge Machine
contributed by Peggy Bawkum, Greenville SC

Materials: Worsted Weight Yarn
Tension: 10
Machine: Any 4.5mm standard gauge machine
Size: 7, 8 and 9 adult
Materials: 2 colors yarn, Peggy used Variegated for the top center.

Directions:

RC 00 e-wrap cast on EON 29L - 28R.
Knit 8 rows
Set carriage to hold position.
*Pull 1 needle nearest carriage to E position and knit across.
Pull out 1 needle on carriage side and knit across*

Continue from * to * until you have 7 needles left in work position.

Reverse shaping by putting 1 needle back in working position on the side opposite the carriage.
Continue reverse shaping on side opposite carriage until all needles are back in working position.

Size 7, knit 18 rows even on 29 stitches.
Size 8 knit 20 rows even
Size 9 knit 22 rows even

Decrease (full fashion) with 7 needle transfer tool, use 3 prongs and knit 2 rows after each decrease.

NOTE: If you don't have 7 needle transfer tool, move needles 1, 2 & 3 in 1 needle each....so in effect, you are doubling up the 4th needle and moving needle 1 and 2 in to needles 2 and 3. (needle 1 is now empty).

Continue decreasing with this method, 1 stitch each side until you have 9 needles left in working position.

Change color here.Continue decreasing 1 stitch on each side BUT leave the empty needles on the edge in working position and pick up 1st loop from sole and put on the empty needles. Your center 3 needles remain constant so that you will have a 3 needle "ridge" in the middle and the decreases on each side. Continue until you get to the heel decreases. (where your short rows started) .

Latch tool bind off loosely and around 2 gate pegs.

Trim cuff as you want.

Enjoy! Peggy
