BEANIE BABY CARDIGAN AND STOCKING HAT
by Ione M.Hurt mailto:boxer@ecol.net

Thanks to Ione for this pattern,  Ione says: "I made 2 red cardigans for 2 black and white cows and gave them for gifts. The receivers really liked them..The cows lay down, not like the teddy bears who sit up, but the sweaters fit some of the laying down ones, too. Let me know what you think of the little sweater when you get it done. I wonder who will have the best or brightest dressed beanie."

Yarn: Tenzado or 3/15 yarn

Gauge: rib at tension 3 and stockinette at 7 or 8 on studio standard bed machine.

If you want to make your sweater a little bit bigger, cast on 35 sts. for the back and 17 sts. for the front. I put stripes in mine by knitting the first 2 rows after the ribbing in main color and then 2 rows of contrast color, 2 rows of main color and then 2 more rows of contrast color then the rest in main color. I did the same with the sleeves and the hat.

BACK
E-wrap cast on 33 sts. and rib for 8 rows. 17-0-16 Transfer sts. up
to main bed.Add 1 st.

RC000---knit 14 rows plain stockinette. Hang marker on each side for armhole.

RC000 Knit 20 rows. Take off on waste yarn, 8 sts. for each shoulder, and the
rest for neck.

FRONT [make 2]

E-wrap 15 sts. in rib. 8-0-7 Rib for 8 rows. Transfer sts. up and add 1 st.

RC000. Knit 14 rows. Hang marker on one side for armhole.

RC000. Knit 20 rows. On waste yarn take off 8 sts. on same side as armhole marker. Take off the rest of neck sts. on waste yarn.

Make other front in reverse. Hang shoulders right sides facing each other, pull
sts. thru and bind off.

SLEEVES Pick up 32 sts. between armhole markers [wrong facing you]. Knit 12 rows stockinette st., decreasing 1 st. on the last row. Transfer every other st. to the ribber and knit 6 rows. Bind off, pulling st. thru sts.
