Baby's Jacket With Hood

This pattern was generously donated to the machine knitters in Cyberspace by Fenny in Holland. Fenny has a knit club and she is going to translate the patterns and goodies she finds in Cyberspace for her club members. My first try at this is a baby's jacket which I had to translate to English, they make wonderful baby shower gifts. So here it goes.

Materials: Trenzi or any other machine sports weight yarn

Sizes : 0 - 3 months.3 - 6 months, and 6 - 9 months.

Machines : All machines with the ability to do a Tuck stitch and a ribber.

Tension : 1x1 rib knitting handle 1, tuck stitch 7.

Pattern:

Back:

Push back 60(68,72) Needles for 1x1 ribknitting. Knit 16 rows and transfer the stitches to the Main Bed, Select pattern and knit to row 78 (90,102)

attach a mark and continue knitting to row 140 (156,172)then using waste yarn cast off.

Right Side:

Push back 28 (32,35) Needles to the right of your O, Knit as the back to row 117(131,147) then start with the neck shaping as follows

1x3 (4,5) and then in every other row 7(9,10) x 1 stitch decrease. There will be 18(19,20) stitches left, continue to row 140(156, 172) then using waste yarn cast off.

Left side:

As the right side mirrored.

Sleeves:

Push back 42(44,46) Needles and rib knit 16 rows, transfer to main bed and continue in pattern stitch, increase in every 6th row 1 stitch on either side till row count 52(54,56)and continue knitting to row 72(90,102) cast off using latch tool.

Hood:

Push back 84(88,94) needles for rib knitting.

Knit 12 rows, transfer to main bed and continue in pattern to row 72(80,88).

Select for abbreviated rows and start every time when the carriage is on the other side push 4(5,6) needles in the Non Working Position.

Do this 10 more times.

Knit 1 time over all Needles and cast off.

Making up:

Join the shoulders, join the back of the hood and knit the hood to the jacket over 80 stitches.

Front welt:

Push back 53(59,65) needles for rib knitting and knit 12 rows, transfer to main bed and knit 1 row at tension 6.1

Attach the front of the jacket with the wrong side facing you and knit 1 row at tension 10 and cast off.

Make one more welt with buttonholes 4 times with 13(15,18)needles between the button holes, and attach the same way.
